Goce satellite views Earth's gravity in high definition

Gravity remains the ultimate barrier to humanity expanding into space directly. The speed of light remains it's delimiting factor once there. At the present time, however, there are six billion of us at the bottom of a gravity well and a couple dozen at best peering back from a space station orbiting at the edge of that well. Yet we continue to gather data concerning gravity...someday we will be the master of this gravity well and not the well the master of us.
